About the IHS

The IHS is a non-profit, registered Canadian charitable organization.  We provide many services to the Muslim
community.  May Allah, the Exalted, accept our humble efforts in His way.

Al-Haqq Newsletter
The Al-Haqq Newsletter is the information arm of the IHS.  It attempts to keep readers informed of the special
events taking place in different communities around the world.  It tries to help enhance Islamic knowledge
with articles written by scholars and specialists on Islamic topics.  The magazine helps unite places that are
separated by distance.  Currently there are over 800 readers in over 20 countries around the world.  Subscription
to the magazine is free, however any donation that you can make to help offset the costs of printing and mail will
be appreciated.  If you can not make any donation, you can still request your free subscription by e-mailing our
head office ([email protected]).

Books for the Needy Fund
Under this project, Islamic literature is sent to interested new Muslims, those who can not afford the reading
material, and people interested in learning more about the Sublime faith.  Many wish to learn more about Islam,
but are limited in their resources, which the IHS tries to eliminate as an impediment.  Through this fund, the
faith of many continues to be strenghtened, while others are introduced to it.  This section of the IHS is very
active.  Libraries and public institutions are sent articles outlining Islam in order to better aquaint the public of
Islam's universal message.

Correspondence
Correspondence takes place with several regional and international organizations.  The IHS sends correspondence
to the Government of Canada, United Nations and other international human rights organizations on issues that are
sensitive to Muslim interests.  Letters, circulars, and petitions are sent to Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament,
and other officials outling the Muslim stand on relevant subjects.

We also contact various food companies to find out what is used to produce their products to ensure that the
community is always informed about what foods may be haram to Muslims.  The results, whenever obtained, are
then printed in the newsletter.  This information will also be kept on-line.

Finally we also correspond regularly with other Islamic organizations that have goals similar to the IHS.  The intention
is to provide moral support to these groups and to seek advice from the established ones.

Social Welfare
The IHS believes that a healthy community is a strong community.  This section of the IHS is the newest.  We try
and help local individuals who are experiencing temporary financial difficulty.  Economic realities force individuals
to seek help, which they would not do under normal circumstances.  Assistance is only provided once individuals go
a careful screening process, this is to ensure that assistance is being provide to those that really need it.  In all
cases we try and avoid unnecessary personal interference.

Stickers, Pins and Cards
A number of stickers, lapel pins, table mugs, trophies, and souvenirs engraved with religious scriptures are
available.  Eid cards that may be sent to Muslims and non-Muslims are also in stock.

States and around the world.  All Canadian donations are entitled to a tax receipt, saving that individual some money

ANY WAY they can -- whether this is by donation, or by providing content for our web site or Al-Haqq Newsletter.
